The Princes Theatre will take appropriate measures to ensure confidentiality of all information, both paper and electronic required for the operation of our business. The Princes Theatre is committed to and complies with all relevant Data Protection and Privacy legislation and/or regulations of the jurisdictions within which we operate. We will ensure that your personal data can be used only by authorised personnel for legally authorised purposes.

We will only use personal data in our possession for its intended specific and authorised purpose. Your personal data may be transferred to contracted third parties, e.g. banks and other firms external to us or within our group for the purposes of providing our services to you.

Your personal data will be retained and maintained in accordance with applicable Data Protection and Privacy laws and regulations. Via our applications or upon written request, we will amend the personal data we hold if factually incorrect, and provide you with a copy of any personal data held by us. All our employees are trained in applicable Data Protection and Privacy legislation and will act with due care and diligence when handling personal data.

Types of data we collect:


Ticketing Data


When you purchase tickets, gift vouchers, merchandise or membership through our Box Office, your name, email, phone number, and address data number will be stored by our ticketing partner, Ticketsolve.


Online Data


When you book tickets online, data is shared between the Realex (payment gateway), and Ticketsolve (ticketing platform) in order to process the transaction. Where patrons have opted to provide their details for mailings, data will be shared with MailChimp (our email partner).

Ticketsolve acts as a data processor on behalf of the Princes Theatre (data controller).

Ticketsolve, Realex, MailChimp and The princes Theatre have implemented appropriate technological measures to protect against accidental loss, destruction, damage, alteration or disclosure.

Website Cookies


When someone visits our website (www.princestheatre.co.uk) we use a number of third party services to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site, types of devices used, and length of time on pages. The Princes Theatre gives all visitors the option to opt out of receiving cookies on first visit and whenever the customers cache is cleared.

Record retention periods


GDPR set’s out the principle that personal data shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for the purpose or purposes for which it was obtained. The Princes Theatre has the following data retention periods in place: Customer Data Retention Period;

Customer data on Ticketsolve Removed after 6 years of inactivity
Customer data on MailChimp Removed after 6 years of inactivity
Customer date realtong to Youthe Theatre Workshops. Removed after 1 year of inactivity
Customer data as submitted through enquiry forms online or in person – Removed after 1 year or when information is no longer required.


Mailing Lists


When you sign up for our mailing list, either at the time of booking or separately through our sign up form, we collect personal information. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to share information such as upcoming shows; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. We also gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our marketing. Changes to our Privacy Policy


We continue to review our controls and processes to assure that they are effective in meeting our commitments to our customers. The princes Theatre reserves the right to change this Privacy Statement without notice at any time and from time to time, including as needed to comply with the laws and regulations of the jurisdictions within which we operate.


Access to your personal information


Under the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003 (as amended), you have a right to seek access to personal information which we hold about you. You also have the right to ask us to correct information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. You also have the right, in certain circumstances to request that we delete your personal information. Any such request should be made to us in writing to: Princes Theatre management, Tendring District Council, Town Hall, Station Road, Clacton-On-Sea, Essex, CO15 3EQ, by email to Princestheatreclacton@tendringdc.gov.uk. We will ordinarily provide you with a print-out of the relevant personal information from our current databases, Your request will be dealt with as soon as possible and in any event within 30 days.
