Terms and Conditions


Tendring District Council (TDC) is the organiser of a Christmas event which will include an ice rink from 29th November 2020 – 10th January 2021(the (the “Event”) at the Princes Theatre, Town Hall, Station Road, Clacton-on-Sea (the “Venue”). Access to and/or use of the ice rink and/or Venue is subject to the terms and conditions below.

Ice skating activities carry an inherent risk. Use of the ice rink is entirely at the users own risk. If you or anyone under your supervision has any medical conditions, serious previous injuries, recently broken bones, knee or joint problems, head injuries, pregnancy, mobility problems or taking any prescribed drugs, you should carefully consider whether it is safe to participate without endangering yourself or anyone under your supervision or other participants whilst skating. You agree that you are responsible for your own safety and the safety of any children under the age of 16 you are supervising.

TDC reserves the right to refuse admission to the ice rink and/or the Venue and is entitled to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of all visitors.

TDC is entitled to request visitors to leave the venue at any time. Furthermore, TDC is entitled to remove anyone from the Venue and/or the ice rink who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol or who in the reasonable opinion of TDC is conducting themselves in a manner inappropriate to their continued attendance.

In the event of an emergency, you must follow instructions and directions from stewards, staff and/or other officials.

Smoking is not permitted within the ice rink or the Venue. Eating or drinking is only permitted within the designated cafe area and only food or drink purchased on the premises.

You must wear appropriate clothing.

No dogs or other pets allowed, with the exception of Guide Dogs.


Customers are responsible to follow current government guidance to reduce risk of contracting Covid-19. Princes Theatre and Tendring District Council cannot be held liable.

Following Government guidance Princes Theatre and Tendring District Council have put all reasonable measures in place to reduce the risk posed by Covid-19 to reduce the spread and potential outbreak on our premises.

Princes Theatre has the right to refuse entry to any individual or party who display any Covid-19 symptoms. In this circumstance a full refund will be issued (Where applicable)

Your booking data is collected for both legitimate business requirements as well as for complying with NHS Test and Trace this data will be retained by the Princes Theatre,  as stated the Princes Theatre already collects the data for other legitimate business purposes in accordance with its GDPR data retention policy. As already stated in our policy you have the right to be forgotten and upon request your personal information will be deleted within an acceptable timescale.


Admission to the ice rink is on production of a valid ticket. Tickets must be booked online or over the phone in advance.

All tickets are issued subject to the rules and regulations of the Venue.

Children under the age of 3 are not permitted on the ice rink. Children aged 16 or under must be accompanied on the ice rink by an adult. The accompanying person must have purchased a valid ticket too.

The duration of an ice rink session is 45 minutes. You should aim to arrive at least 20 minutes before the start time stated on your ticket. If you arrive late for the booked session, you will not receive a full 45 minutes and your session will expire at time stated on your ticket. No refunds will be given if you cannot have a full session as a result of arriving late. If you leave the ice rink before the expiry of your session, you will not be able to re-enter and no refund will be given.

TDC is not responsible or liable for any tickets that are damaged, lost or stolen.


All tickets sale are final. No refunds, cancellations or exchanges are available after you have purchased your tickets.

The ice rink is indoors and will operate in all weather conditions. However in the unlikely event that TDC deems it necessary to close the ice rink, TDC reserves the right at its discretion to offer either a refund or alternative sessions for skating, subject to availability.

If the rink has to be cleared for any reason, no refund/alternative session will be given if you have been on the ice rink for over 30 minutes.

If you have been removed from the ice rink or Venue for inappropriate behaviour or safety and security reasons following a security search, no refund or alternative session will be offered.


All prices are quoted in UK Pounds Sterling and include Value Added Tax


By entering the Venue and the ice rink, visitors consent to being photographed, filmed or recorded as visitors of the Event and consent to such photographs, films or recordings being used by TDC to publicise the Event in the future or in connection with any other commercial purposes. If for safeguarding or other valid reasons this is not possible please inform the Princes Theatre in writing or by email to princestheatre@tendringdc.gov.uk.

Photography and filming at the venue is only allowed for personal use. Commercial and editorial photography is prohibited without TDC’s express permission.


Subject to availability, on-site parking may be used. Use of the car parking facilities at the High Street Car Park (near Sainsbury’s) is subject to TDC’s Public Car Parking Conditions.

TDC accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage howsoever arising. Furthermore TDC is not responsible for any injuries to the ice rink users, howsoever caused, save where any death or injury is caused by the proven negligence of TDC or its employees.

Unless prohibited from limiting its liability by law, TDC’s shall have no liability to you beyond the face value of the ticket purchased.


These Terms and Conditions and any dispute hereunder shall be governed by English Law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.


Skate aids can be booked in advance and are also available on the day subject to availability, at a cost of £3.50. Skate aids are suitable for both children and adults. All skates must be returned at the end of your skating session, in exchange for your footwear. Customers may not use their own skates.
